As the manager of the Human Resource processes in an organisation the review, monitoring and improvement of recruitment, selection and induction ensures the employment of individuals which will suit organisational needs. This unit provides the participants with the skills and knowledge to assess current processes, improve or develop new methods to hire staff, meet all legislative requirements and empower staff.
Topic 1 - Developing Recruitment, Selection and Induction Policies and Procedures
The process of recruitment is varied depending on the size of the organisation and staffing needs. Managing the processes includes writing and evaluating organisational plans and policies, developing procedures and supporting documentation, optimising the technology used, obtaining support from organisational management and ensuring communication processes are in place to inform staff. Training methods and ongoing monitoring procedures ensure continued success.

Topic 2 - Recruit and Select Staff
The process of recruitment and selection is vital to the success of an organisation. As shown in topic 1 the framework developed allows for the policies and procedures to ensure the outcomes of recruitment attracts the best applicants for the position. Recruitment has to include the following:
determination of current and future human resource needs
current position descriptions and personal specifications
training provided for individuals involved in the process
advertising which complies with relevant legislation
utilisation of specialist agencies where required
selection processes vary according to requirements
documentation for employment are current and meet legislation

Staff induction is the first impression of an organisation the staff members will receive. Induction is the most formal of training an individual will participate where all organisational processes, procedures and formalities are introduced. In order to ensure the induction process provides for long term information the following needs to be addressed:
training for staff members involved in induction.
induction processes are clearly documented.
probationary employees are monitored and feedback provided.
induction processes include feedback from members involved.
Monitor and refine induction processes and policies.
